Coco Gauff dominated Emma Raducanu in their Italian Open last-16 match on May 12, 2025, securing a 6-1, 6-2 victory in just 79 minutes.
Gauff, ranked World No. 3, showcased her aggressive shot-making and court coverage, proving too strong for Raducanu, who had been enjoying a solid run in Rome. The match was played in windy conditions, which Gauff later described as “awkward” but manageable.
Raducanu had previously defeated Maya Joint, Jil Teichmann, and Veronika Kudermetova to reach this stage, but Gauff’s forehand and serve kept her on the defensive throughout the match. Despite the loss, Raducanu acknowledged Gauff’s quality, saying, “I do think I got outplayed today, but I guess I have no shame in saying that and looking forward to working to try to get better.”
Gauff now advances to the quarter-finals, where she will face Mirra Andreeva.
